Claims Post Time

Claims:
The claims post will be going up on Saturday, February 19th. The comments will be locked for 24 hours before claiming actually starts so that authors may preview the work. Below is the poll that will determine what time claiming will open. We are allowing proxies, so please don't panic if none of the times are convenient for you.

The post will be locked to community members only - you must join the community in order to see the art, and in order to claim. This goes for proxies as well--they must be a member of the community to claim on someone else's behalf!

If you would like to know more about how claims will work, please look at this post here.

Almost all of that is not in favour of us who live in Asia. It all past midnight my time. :(

I don't know if I'm calculating wrong, but it looks like it'd all be in the morning/early afternoon where I am, and I'm in Singapore.

[identity profile] lysythe.livejournal.com 2011-02-15 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
I mean, according to Google, it's about 10pm PST, which is 2pm locally (on Feb 15, of course). So 7pm PST on the 20th would be 11am on the 21st locally.

[identity profile] epicflailer.livejournal.com 2011-02-18 08:35 am (UTC)(link)
actually, i think it would be 4am local (singapore) time, if i'm not mistaken, basing it on the fixed time world clock (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?day=20&month=2&year=2011&hour=12&min=0&sec=0&p1=137). so 7pm would be 11am monday morning here, which is still not ideal, but would at least work much better for quite a number of the asian countries.

mods: would you guys be willing to consider setting this up for 7pm instead, as it's the second most popular option right now, and also potentially the most feasible for asian participants?

[identity profile] lysythe.livejournal.com 2011-02-18 08:40 am (UTC)(link)
I was referring to the current time when I was commenting. I guess the insertion of 'now' would have helped understanding. But yes, 7pm PST would be ideal for Asians.

my mistake, sorry about that!

Can anyone tell me what those times convert to for Eastern Standard Time?

[identity profile] kiyala.livejournal.com 2011-02-15 08:04 am (UTC)(link)
12PM PST converts to 7AM Sydney time. Hope that helps!

[identity profile] almostgaby.livejournal.com 2011-02-15 08:55 am (UTC)(link)
OR 12pm on the West Coast is 3 pm on the East.

OK, got it. :)

How will the Proxy work? I work 2nd shift, on Central time so I most likely will be at work when things go up. I would like to have my wife be my proxy, but she is also going to try for a claim. Can she bid for both of us?

[identity profile] keelain.livejournal.com 2011-02-15 10:48 am (UTC)(link)
((maybe this is helpful?: http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/time-zone/usa/pacific-time/

I'm sure there are ones that can compare times as well))

I also have to put in a comment for those of us who are in Asia. On the other hand, I am usually on my local night shift, so I think I can compromise - but it might not be so for others in the fandom.

I work all day on Saturday, and may not be able to get to the claims post while at work. I'd try, but I couldn't promise. 7 (which is 6 my time) is best for me.

Edit: Pffft, I was completely off. For some reason, I was thinking PST was an hour ahead of me, but it's TWO hours BEHIND. >.< I have teh dumbz today.

So, really, Anything from 3pm PST after is good for me, but I'll stick with the vote of 7pm because there seems to be a few people who agree and, uh, I can't change my vote anyway. XD

Because my lovely job that I love so much (/sarcasm) dictates every hour of my weekend, the only time I could have a chance to do this would 7:00 PM PST. It would be 10 PM EST (I think, I could be horribly miscalculating), which would give me time to get home from my lovely and wonderful place of work.

[identity profile] kittie-gurl57.livejournal.com 2011-02-15 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Anything before 7 is preferable for me. I have to be in bed to get up for school after that. ;)

[identity profile] somnacin-addict.livejournal.com 2011-02-16 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
Ahaha, I couldn't for the life of me remember what I had going on this weekend when my coworker asked if he and I could switch our shifts, but here's crossing my fingers.

[identity profile] epistolic.livejournal.com 2011-02-16 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
7pm is good for me, but anything earlier than that will really throw everything out of whack... if 12pm ends up winning out, will probs have to find a proxy. :(

Never mind, I have found myself a proxy. Sorry about that!

Noooo, please make it 7 pm! It's the only one where I'll be able to even LOOK at the post!
